Destination Montana

Rodeos in Montana are what we all look forward to during the long winters. Montana may be a tourism-based state but we are an agricultural state as well and Rodeos in Montana are one of the highlights of summer. The hundreds of ranches are, for the most part, still work on horseback. The Cowboys & Cowgirls move cattle, rope, and sort regularly. That said, they take their skills to the local rodeos and have a great time doing so. Grab your hat and head over if you are lucky enough to be in town for one of these rodeos. It is always a very good time.

YeeHaw… It’s time to Rodeo…2026 in Montana will be a heck of a good time!

Bozeman’s beloved Roundup Ranch Rodeo has a long-standing tradition of over 100 years. Up to seven teams will compete for a chance to win top money at one of the oldest sports in the West with $5,000 added to a 100% Jackpot.

This is a true rancher’s rodeo! The events mirror the ranching livelihood out in big country Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and beyond. Unlike a pro rodeo, a ranch rodeo is made up of teams of up to five people.

This Rodeo includes a variety of hair-raising events including wild cow milking, sorting, branding, doctoring and trailer loading. In the wild cow milking, one contestant must rope a cow while teammates must wrangle and milk her. All teams compete at once, making for a particularly wild and entertaining event.

Bozeman Roundup Ranch Rodeo is sponsored by the Boot Barn!

Livingston Montana Rodeo

The Livingston Roundup Rodeo has a long and colorful history of its own, dating back to the “Roaring 20s,” when the event began. In October 1923, Livingston’s own Charlie Murphy was in charge of the stock at the Madison Square Garden Rodeo in New York City. On Labor Day of 1924, 28 heads of those top bucking horses were in Livingston and a rodeo had officially come to Park County. The Livingston Roundup really got going in 1925. The roundup was one of eight Class A rodeos in the nation and at the time had a purse of more than $3,000, or $41,095.89 in today’s dollars. The Livingston Roundup Rodeo continues that tradition with some of the finest rodeo action that the West has to offer, and some of the best rough stock in the country.
